Windstream Cancellation Problems
Recently we decided to cancel Windstream telephone service. Like many, my family switched to cell phone service. If you have the connectivity of cell phones and you don't use the home phone, why keep it? There are so few times that require the use of a land line, that it's good sense to eliminate the extra bill. It all sounds reasonable and simple, right? Then, you have the added benefit of Windstream not calling you every night and refusing to take no for an answer on their very lame DSL services.
A person would think that cancelling phone service is no big deal. When we called to make the cancellation, we were met with a barrage of questions. They wanted to know why we wanted to cancel, what are cell phone numbers were, etc. The most disturbing question was the cell phone number because we knew that it meant they'd be calling that number begging us to get their inferior Internet offerings. They claimed that they needed the number to confirm the cancellation! How do they cancel phones when people do not have cell phones? What a ridiculous situation. By the time they ask you this, they've really wore a person down with their inquisitve stupidity, so we fell for it. We just wanted rid of Windstream already.
So a few weeks go by and we still have service. They continue to call and beg for us to use their services. Of course, they use the barely English speaking types to do their begging. How professional is that ?! Then we started receiving telemarketers on the cell phones. We never had them before giving our number to Windstream, so one would assume how the number was put on the telemarketers list.
If you decide to cancel service, just tell them your moving out of the country. Find a country that has no phone service and tell them you're going there. Whatever you do, do not give them your current number!
