Ashtabula County, Ohio Photos
The Ashtabula County section of Ohio Sights contains pictures of 14 of the 16 covered bridges in the county and views of Geneva State Park Beach. There are some internal photos of the covered bridges to please the covered bridge enthusiasts and the curious.
Ashtabula County, OH is close to Cleveland, OH making it a popular Ohio weekend getaway for the city folks close-by. Geneva-On-The-Lake is tourist town and small amusement park wrapped up into one. It is a very unique setting. Due to the close vicinity to Lake Erie and it's cool breeze, it is a favorite outdoor recreation area in the summer. The county is also in the snow belt for winter outdoor activities if you can take the cold.
I relaxed on the beach for part of an evening to catch the sunset. The shore faces west providing a very nice view of a sinking sun. The weather was marginal for the sunset, but watching folks enjoying the setting made for some good photography.
The rural views were outstanding. Many vineyards were in the area, sightings of varied bird species filled the skies, and covered bridges were everywhere. There is a driving tour that you can either ride a bus or follow along in your own car. If you do it yourself, you'll need a good map as many of the signs were missing or pointing the wrong direction.
The quaint summer cottages and wineries in the area are attractions also. The city of Ashtabula has a thriving party scene in the historical district. Something for everyone!
Enjoy the photos!
